Day #287

I only had time to write an introductory letter for a Swap Bot pen pal exchange

The mail brought a letter from one of my favorite pen pals, and two post-crossing cards, from Finland and from the U.S.

Day #286

One post-crossing card to someone in California (such a long way to travel!) and a pen pal letter all going out this morning.

All I had in incoming was a letter from one of my sponsored children, Shallon in Uganda...but what a wonderful letter it was, and best of all, it came with a picture!

I also immediately wrote a response to Shallon, but I used Compassion's on-line option, so it was not an on-paper letter.

Day #285

Two letters, 2 postcards sent today.

One Post-crosser had asked for pin up girls, which gave me the chance to send one of my new Hawaiian pin-up post cards.

Just one postcard coming in today, from Taiwan.

Day #284

This morning I sent out another one of those fun Isabel Samaras postcards and a new one I just found of the Davis Arboretum.  I also made a special envelope for the letter I wrote--and I won't give away to whom it is going!

I got a new picture of  my Compassion child, Emmanuella (in Ghana) today, but I had already received the picture as a .jpg, so it was not anything I had not seen before.  And I received a letter from a pen pal in the SF Bay Area.

Day #283

Today I sent a letter to a Compassion child in the Dominican Republic, and two postcards (I just love these pieces by Isabel Samaras).  I also got a flat rate box to mail the package above to my Compassion child in the Philippines.  We can only send things made of paper, but someone is going to the Philippines and offered to take a package.  I was able to fit in 2 t-shirts and a bunch of toys and games, as well as a little candy.  I hope it all makes it all right!

When Walt picked up the mail today he said there was an offer of a free cremation addressed to him and the rest of the mail was addressed to me.

There was a postcrossing card from the Netherlands, of the sender's 4 year old grandchild's drawing.  I love that idea.  There were also cards from two pen pals who haven't written in awhile and a letter from a 23 year old girl in Italy who stumbled across this web site and sent a very sweet letter, which I have already answered!

Day #282

Two letters and a post-crossing card outgoing today.

Lots of post-crossing incoming too, along with a nice penpal letter.

Day #281

Back in the saddle again.  Wrote FOUR, count' em, letters and made two Mamma Mia envelopes.

Incoming was good, too.

Two very nice penpal letters, and a great postcard from South Africa, from someone who got my name on SendSomething.

Sorry 'bout That - Incoming

I can't believe how long it's been since I've added to this site.  I don't remember some of all of this, but these are the pieces of mail I've received lately...

I got all these post-crossing cards the same day.  What a day!

Kimi--please note that I received your card.  I also received a returned letter from me, with exactly the same address you put on your card, but it says you were no longer at that address.  Please e-mail me at basykes@dcn.org so we can figure out the problem!

I'm glad to finally be receiving mail from Compassion kids!

Sorry 'Bout That - Outgoing

I can't believe how long it's been since I've added to this site.  I don't remember some of all of this, but these are the pieces of mail I've sent out lately...

Day #280

Because of a doctor's appointment which meant I had to leave the house too early to get something written to send out, there was no outgoing mail, but I did get these nice letters, one from my favorite carnivore in Colorado, one from someone who wrote because of reading my address here, and two other great penpal letters.

Day #279

In and out.  A pin-up to to the Netherlands, and a postcard from Minsk (Belarus)

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Day #278

All of these were to post-crossing people.  The envelope went to a woman who likes to know about people--so I sent her a letter and two postcards.

This postcrossing card from Minsk, Belarus, was the only incoming mail today, other than junk mail.

Day #277

With lunch out and a dental appointment and errands to run, I only got one letter written yesterday.

There was no incoming mail.  :(

Day #276

I sent mail to Australia, and a couple to the US.  The afternoon mail brought....

...postcrossing cards from Poland and the Netherands, and letters from Sandra in the Netherlands (did you know that Queen Beatrix's 2nd oldest  son was buried in an avalanche in Austria on February 17,  was flown to London, and has been comatose in the hospital ever since and is not expected to live?)

Another letter came from Heidi in Atlanta and one from Jennifer in Basingstoke (England).  Jennifer's letter came with the best stamp!

One of my favorite stamps thus far!

Day #275

Sent out two pen pal letters today.  Isn't that kitten envelope cute?  The afternoon brought a postcrossing card from Germany and a letter from an old pen pal that I haven't heard from in many years.  So happy to hear from her again!

Day #274

Post-crossing cards to the Netherlands and Finland

Post-crossing card from China and a letter from my favorite Northeastern Colorado pen pal.
