Day #255

I'm getting back in the groove. 3 letters, 2 post-crossing cards and a postcard to someone NOT on post-crossing.

Received a nice letter from Sandra in the Netherlands and two post-crossing cards, one from Belarus and my first one from Latvia.

Day #254

This morning I wrote responses to a couple of people whose letters I thought I lost (but then found), a letter to a Swap-Bot person, and a post-crossing card.

The afternoon brought a letter from Basingstoke in England and a letter from a new person who stumbled across this blog. A good letter day!

Day #253

First of all, I'm so happy...I FOUND THEM!!! I found the letters I lost and it was so stupid (as I knew it would be) that I don't even want to tell you where they were. Suffice to say, I can now answer them...except for Lucas, to whom I had already written

This morning, however, I sent a James Dean postcard to someone from Post Crossing in Finland, who likes James Dean. I was so pleased I just happened to have the postcard here. Also wrote to a pen pal on an envelope I made out of a theater program...I even included the URL of the review, in case the pen pal wants to check it out, since it's not exactly a well known play.

The mail carrier brought a postcard from Malaysia from a post-crossing person, but it's not a post-crossing card, if that makes sense. Also a nice letter from one of my good pen pals.

Day #252

Hey, Lucas! I wrote you a letter, even though I lost your original letter. When it arrives, I'll let you know that the envelope was made out of a program from a show I saw recently, "Ruthless, The Musical."

I also sent a letter to a friend.

On the upper right is a postcard I received from Poland, but it does not appear to be post-crossing, just somebody who found my address...somewhere...and decided to write. The other two are pen pal letters from a couple of my favorite correspondents.

Day #251

It's postcard day! Today I only got post-crossing cards written, one to Belarus, one to Denmark, one to Switzerland, and one to France.

And incoming was a post-crossing card from the Netherlands.

I am also almost finished with a letter I started writing to Australia and I also sent a lengthy e-mail to Zoe, who is a pen pal, but who right now is only using e-mail until she returns home after winter is over.

Day #250

Here are two letters that I finally got written, after the 2-day mail holiday

I am hoping that the three people who wrote me the letters below are looking at this picture. If you are, please let me know. I have torn the house apart and I cannot find any of these letters. The fact that I can't find them tells me that after I took this picture, I put them somewhere and I am continuing to look, but right now I can't tell them. I remember that the middle one with the circles on it was from Lucas, for Send a letter day. One of the other letters came from Courtney in Australia and I don't remember who sent the third one. Please, please leave a note here, or write to me at basykes@dcn.org and let me know that you are aware that I have lost your letters and remind me that you sent them. I feel absolutely terrible about this!

I'm especially sad because Courtney sent such a wonderful, long, hand-written letter and I don't have Lucas' address (or web site, since he mentioned that in his letter). And really sad about the 3rd letter since I don't remember who wrote it!

And these...

I don't remember which day these came. but since I have no entry for the 16th, let's say the 16th. The one on the left is a darling home-made post-crossing card from someone in the Netherlands. The one on the right is from Shell in Australia. I loved surfing Santa. It would be weird to live in a country where it is more likely to be in the 80s on Christmas day!

Day #249

I almost thought that my pen pal letter to Tennessee wouldn't go out because my printer wouldn't print...but fortunately I got it printing again. Also sent Post-crossing cards to the UK, China and Germany.

Received a post-crossing card from Germany and this nice letter from Anna in Washington.

Day #248

I answered Lynn's letter from yesterday. Couldn't sleep at 3 a.m. and got up to write a letter, then go back to sleep at 5 a.m.!

Nice card from Albert in France and a letter from Kristina--I loved the envelope she made out of a bag from Chipotle!

Day #247

This is a postcard going to a post-crossing person in Germany, mailed in haste as I was headed out to lunch with a friend in Sacramento.

A most-welcome letter from Lynn, in Berkeley (just a few miles from me!)

Day #246

I quickly sent off this Postcrossing card to Taiwan, but didn't receive any incoming mail.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Day #245

I didn't write anything on Sunday and obviously didn't get anything on Sunday either, so Monday I had a post-crossing card to Finland and two pen pal letters to send.

The mail brought this wonderful horse postcrossing card from Poland and a nice letter from Cathy T.

Saturday, January 7, 2012

Day #244

Here's a post-crossing card to a guy from France who asked for pin-up cards, as well as two pen pal letters.

How nice to receive two letters from little Fred in the Philippines, a great letter from Limner, and a letter from Kathryn, including a sample of her "Zentangus." (I'm still not sure I know what a Zentangus is!

Day #243

This is why it's necessary to post every day! I'm not 100% certain who were the recipients of these things, except that the postcards were post-crossing. The light blue envelope was to a new person who contacted me and the other 3 were to pen pals, but I can't remember which ones. I love my new ceiling wax "B," though!

Loved the post-crossing card from Amish country. Also had nice letters from Cindy Y and Sarah in the UK

Day #242

Good me. I sent a nice thank you note to our hostess for New Year's Eve. Also wrote a letter to someone new who wrote as a result of reading this blog (and thank you, Anna, for the nice things you wrote!). I also wrote short letters to each of my 11 Compassion children, including a picture of Buddy, the puppy I'm bottle feeding. But those were sent electronically, through Compassion!

I love the cute little puppy in the postcard from the Netherlands--I was her very first post-crossing card. Also was very happy to receive a letter from Elvis-fan, Denise in North Carolina!

Day #241

Trying to get past the inertia that descended upon me during the holidays...and deal with the time it takes to bottlefeed and raise a puppy. I did get one rather lengthy letter written today.

Incoming was kinder to me than I deserved. One nice post-crossing card, a letter from Sarah in the UK, and I loved the candy-themed envelope from Cindy here in California.

Day #240

I sent off post-crossing cards today, 7 of them, as well as a pen pal letter and a belated Christmas card.

Of course there was no mail delivery in the US because today is the New Year holiday. I spent all day long figuring stuff out on my new Droid x2 phone, so in lieu of showing you incoming mail, I leave you with this video of our 3-1/2 yr old granddaughter's reaction on seeing the puppet stage that her grandpa and Uncle Ned made for her. Militantly adorable.

Day #239

I sent off a reply to a pen pal this morning.

..and I received a letter from Shallon in Uganda, a Christmas card from Lynn, a nice letter from Marian, and a post-crossing card from Belarus.
