OK...here we go

\I'm trying to get caught up on the last week or so of mail, in and out.  These are the things I have sent out. As you can see, I've done a good job with sending out postcards, not such a good job sending letters.  I can't even remember most of where these cards went.

 

 

This batch includes a letter to President Obama, congratulating him on his

support of gay marriage, and assuring him he had my vote (which I will cast proudly)

Day #263

I had two letters ready to mail off this morning, but there was no incoming mail.

Playing Catch-up

I've been so bad the last few days about photographing and posting letters, so I'm just going to throw up what I have and then start fresh tomorrow.

Here are recent things I've sent out:

Postcards going to Australia, South Korea, The Netherlands, and Latvia

I honestly don't remember who these letters (and post card) were going to...but I was showing off my new wax seal.

I made this envelope out of the program for West Side Story. It is going across the pond.

I finally got mail today, including the first letter from a Compassion child in over a month

There have also been postcrossing cards received in the past few days.

These came from The US (3), Latvia, The Netherlands, Germany (2), Poland, Belgium.

I also got a couple of letters in plain white envelope, one from Misty (The Pen Thief) and from Cathy T, both of which I have misplaced (but answered already!)

So. All caught up. Now to start again tomorrow keeping things neat and orderly!

Day #161

I sent out one response to a Swap-Bot penpal and two postcards this morning and then went off to Sacramento to visit my cousin. There are so many penpals who haven't written in such a long time that I thought surely I would have mail when I returned home, but no. No mail.

I'm also waiting for news from the hospital in Santa Barbara, where, last I heard, my daughter-in-law's contractions were 5 minutes apart.

Day #154

Outgoing today were 2 postcards and a letter to SendSomething people, and a letter to a friend.

Isn't this envelope great! It comes from Speck who also wrote a letter that made me giggle.

Day #146

Holidays are not good mail days!


And because I was out most of the day, I only wrote (hand-wrote, no less) one letter while I was out, this to a friend. Tomorrow mail comes again! I hope.

Day #115

A bit of outgoing mail today...


A note to a friend in Australia, 2 pen pal letters, a recipe postcard to my friend Lynn (who just hosted me in San Diego), and 2 Postcrossing cards.

No incoming mail today. :(

Day #107, 108

I only wrote one letter yesterday, since it was Sunday, but I wrote two today, so I combined all three into one photo. This is a letter to a friend, one to one of the Amandas, whose unit's Facebook page I found yesterday, and one to a penpal, mailed inside a menu from China Air, which, with decorative tape, made a fun "envelope."


But what a banner day it was for incoming!!

The most exciting thing is the envelope that I put a red star on. This is my first letter from one of the soldier Amandas! I was so excited. That combined with all the pictures I saw of her unit yesterday has made her a "real person" to me, not just a blank wall that I keep throwing letters at.

The rest of the mail was also exciting. There was a letter from one of my Compassion children, a reply from the woman who wrote me a 30 page introductory letter (her reply is only 10 pages, which is a great improvement!). The cute little yellow envelope was from someone at Swap Bot, who wrote a fun letter. And then there were postcards, three from PostCrossing, one from SendSomething, and one from Swap-Bot.

Day #97

In honor of its 6th anniversary, Postcrossing let everyone send 6 additional postcards for one day. I took advantage of the offer (plus had a regular Postcrossing card to send as well)

Today was also the day to send out the postcards for a Swap-Bot exchange called "You Animal."


Finally, I also sent off a sunflower postcard to a friend who likes sunflowers, and another pen-pal letter (actually a follow-up to one I sent yesterday)


Incoming was a letter from one of my Compassion children (who asks me to "pray for her cute future," which I thought was in itself "cute") and a Postcrossing card from China.

Day #87

The zebra envelope may be one of my very favorites.

It's going to a friend who loves zebras. It just all came together just the way I wanted. (The little zebra is actually all black and white; it was the flash that gave it a sepia head.)

The package is going to a pen pal, but I won't say anything about it because I don't want to spoil the surprise. Tomorrow there will be mail delivery again. I hope everyone had a good 4th. I spent most of the day with my 3 year old granddaughter.

Day #65

It's Sunday, so there is only mail waiting to go out tomorrow. a return letter to a pen pal, a letter to a friend in Japan inquiring about her and her friends, a letter to another penpal in a home-made envelope. A postcard made out of a brochure I found in China (of the Peking Opera, I think), and another postcard of my favorite hotel (in Guilin, China) sent to a friend in Australia. All will go into the mail tomorrow.

Day #48

Three hefty letters sent today -- one to a good friend, one reply to mail I'd received, and one to someone who mentioned liking maps. I recycled a map from a shopping mall in France that I brought back 3 years ago and like how the envelopes turned out.

I also sent this postcard of the Paris Opera House Garnier, which I bought in Paris, to someone who describes herself as a "theatre geek"


No incoming mail. :(

Day #41

Today's outgoing included two to Post-crossing people, one to a friend in Australia, and one postcard to my brother-in-law, as well as a letter to a penpal in the Netherlands (I like the butterfly envelope!)

And I loved this beautiful card from Merimax in Slovenia.
