Day #272
Since I was not at home, no letters got written, but when I returned home, I did have a lovely post-crossing card from Brasil and a letter from Katryn which had come in yesterday and then in a little while I got these in today's mail.
These were 3 post-crossing cards (two from the US, one from the Ukraine), and a postcard from a friend.

Day #269
Yesterday I received a note from a good friend that I hadn't heard from in literally years. I was so pleased to hear from her that I ended up writing a 7 page letter, the kinds of letters we used to exchange all the time. I also sent her a cat post card. I also answered a pen pal letter and send a "nudge" note to someone, wondering why I had not received a response from the letter I wrote in November.
Compassion seems to have kicked in finally, with two more letters arriving today, from Fred in the Philippines and Murugi in Kenya. There were also two post-crossing cards, both from the United States.

Day #266
I was so busy I only got one letter written today...
But I got some fun incoming mail.
This is two penpal letters (one from author Mary Robinette Kowal), two postcrossing cards, and that "I feel sin coming on" card from Cathy.
And then these two belated birthday cards.
Each was perfect in its own way...and Bri picked out the dog card, even though it says "grandpa" because "grandma likes dogs."

Day #262
My $1.05 stamps finally arrived, so I was able to send off these post-crossing cards to: Brasil, Romania, The Netherlands, Thailand and Russia
The mail brought a lovely postcard from my awesome daughter, and a letter from Marian.
The Danny Thomas stamp was released today. I ordered some and look forward to getting them next week!
Not much writing to be done tomorrow. It's my birthday and I'm off to let my mother take me out for a crab lunch.

Day #261
One out and one in today. I really liked the envelope, going to Donna. (I don't know who the kids are; this was a page from a newspaper insert.)
This is a Valentine's Day card and brief note from Sheila.

Day #260
I sent off a few things in the mail today. Two were postcrossing cards, one was a card to sendsomething (which I've forgotten about lately!). Then there was a thank you note, a letter to an author who just joined sendsomething (I'll be curious to see if she was really interested in correspondents or just publicizing her book), and two pen pal letters, one to the US and one to Germany.
Ok. There were hand delivered by my husband, for himself and for our dogs ("the girls"), but they still count as incoming mail on Valentine's Day.
This was the only incoming mail, a postcrossing card of Hong Kong, but mailed from Sacramento, 20 miles from here!

Day #259
I suppose continuing to name these "Day #xxx" is kind of silly, but it gives a consistency to the names, I guess.
I wrote a lot today. This first picture is all Post-crossing cards I sent out (with that damn $1.05 postage!). These went to Canada, Germany, Poland, and Belarus. The S. Carolina card had been sent to me by a pen pal, but this Post-crossing person was keeping track of all the places from where she had received cards and S. Carolina was one of the very few US States that she was missing...so I hope I can be forgiven for passing it along!
and these are the letters that went out.
Here is what came in -- a pen pal valentine, a post-crossing card, a birthday card from Southwest Airlines, and ...be still my heart!... not one but two letters from Compassion kids!

Catching Up Again
I've been computer-less for a week, so unable to update here. So here are my most recent things sent out (not much!). I did send out 11 letters to my Compassion children, but I wrote them using Compassion's on-line letter writing function (which allows me to embed photos in the letters...and they print them for me!). This one went to my almost 4-year old Granddaughter....
These are post-crossing cards.
I didn't send out any letters because I had no printer (and didn't get around to hand-writing), but what a wealth of incoming mail I received!
This group includes one of those wonderful Inge Look postcards, this time from the Netherlands.
One letter in the above grouping was this great card with matching stamp from Kimi.
And now off to write lots and lots of letters!
I've been frustrated with the USPS web site and unable to find international stamps. I finally wrote to them and discovered that you can get more stamps than show on their front page:
This link will take you to more first class stamps than show on the page, and this link will take you to the "extra postage" page where you can find international stamps. There is now even a $1.05 stamp.

Two out today...
I'm still without a printer, so I'm hand writing things, which I know a lot of people do automatically, but I just don't like the way I sound in handwriting. Still, I got off a note and a postcard today.
It was the incoming mail which was the interesting thing. There was a letter from my penpal Sara, but the other envelope was from "Cue Happiness" in Canada.
It was an envelope filled with affirmation cards and a little thing to plant imbedded seeds. I checked out "Cue Happiness" on Google and found this site. Then I Googled "cue happiness Canada" and found out about this project. I don't know who sent this envelope, but...thank you! In the proper spirit of "playing it forward," I will be searching for my own opportunity to "cue happiness."

Day #258
Just one letter written today.
I'm kind of stymied because I still don't have a working printer, so I had to hand write. I know I should just hand write a bunch, but my handwritten letters bore even me. But for short notes they are OK. I liked the little Valentine picture on the envelope, though.
Of course no incoming because the post office refuses to deliver mail on Sunday. Harumph!

Day #257
I got several letters mailed off today, including one Post-crossing card. Not sure how many I will get out in the next few days, since I am presently without access to a printer. If I'm lucky, we will get my new printer installed and I'll be back in business again.
I received my first Postcrossing card from Malta today, and a letter from Donna in Oklahoma.

So where was I...?
So I'm back on track again. Look at this -- 4 letters, a card, and a postcrossing card. Yay Me!
Even incoming was fun. Two nice letters and a Post-crossing card.

Playing Catch-up
I've been so bad the last few days about photographing and posting letters, so I'm just going to throw up what I have and then start fresh tomorrow.
Here are recent things I've sent out:
Postcards going to Australia, South Korea, The Netherlands, and Latvia
I honestly don't remember who these letters (and post card) were going to...but I was showing off my new wax seal.
I made this envelope out of the program for West Side Story. It is going across the pond.
I finally got mail today, including the first letter from a Compassion child in over a month
There have also been postcrossing cards received in the past few days.
These came from The US (3), Latvia, The Netherlands, Germany (2), Poland, Belgium.
I also got a couple of letters in plain white envelope, one from Misty (The Pen Thief) and from Cathy T, both of which I have misplaced (but answered already!)
So. All caught up. Now to start again tomorrow keeping things neat and orderly!
