Day #293

Today I tackled a huge job and wrote an answer to my friend who sent a 30 page letter...we have written long letters to each other for years; hers was 30 pages hand written on 5x7 note paper; mine was 9 pages typewritten on 8-1/2x10 paper.  I'm not sure who had the longer letter!

I also sent off a letter to my mother's doctor and a Postcrossing card.

Nice incoming too.  Two postcards with poems on them, for a SwapBot exchange, a Postcrossing card from St. Petersburg (the writer's very first Postcrossing card) letters from two of my favorite writers, and some great stuff from Missive Maven's etsy shop.

Day #280

Because of a doctor's appointment which meant I had to leave the house too early to get something written to send out, there was no outgoing mail, but I did get these nice letters, one from my favorite carnivore in Colorado, one from someone who wrote because of reading my address here, and two other great penpal letters.

Day #276

I sent mail to Australia, and a couple to the US.  The afternoon mail brought....

...postcrossing cards from Poland and the Netherands, and letters from Sandra in the Netherlands (did you know that Queen Beatrix's 2nd oldest  son was buried in an avalanche in Austria on February 17,  was flown to London, and has been comatose in the hospital ever since and is not expected to live?)

Another letter came from Heidi in Atlanta and one from Jennifer in Basingstoke (England).  Jennifer's letter came with the best stamp!

One of my favorite stamps thus far!

Day #269

Yesterday I received a note from a good friend that I hadn't heard from in literally years.  I was so pleased to hear from her that I ended up writing a 7 page letter, the kinds of letters we used to exchange all the time.  I also sent her a cat post card.  I also answered a pen pal letter and send a "nudge" note to someone, wondering why I had not received a response from the letter I wrote in November.

Compassion seems to have kicked in finally, with two more letters arriving today, from Fred in the Philippines and Murugi in Kenya.  There were also two post-crossing cards, both from the United States.

Day #201

Post-crossing day!

5 Post-crossing cards (and I was able to get rid of the Ronald Reagan card that came with a set I bought, sent to someone who wanted pictures of world leaders -- unlike some I did not think Reagan was the greatest thing since sliced bread). Also a letter to my Compassion child, Murugi, in Kenya, and two pen-pal letters. (I liked my "Charlie Brown" envelope!)

Just one card arrived, from Miss Hannah in Michigan. Isn't it beautiful?

I wrote a long letter to my former teacher, Sister Kathleen. and sent 2 post-crossing cards

Two most-welcomed letters in the afternoon, one from Colorado and one from Germany. also a post-crossing card from France.

Day #187

There was no incoming mail today, but I managed to get some outgoing mail.

Two of these are postcrossing postcards, one is a pen pal letter, one is a complaint letter to PBS for the abominable production of HMS Pinafore they broadcast last week, and finally is a letter to Kristina, whose ad I found on line, but who, I realized after writing the letter, only included her e-mail address, not her snail mail. so I'm not mailing this until when/if I hear back from her.

Day #186

I spent the morning doing things to prepare for my cousin's funeral on Wednesday. But when I came home there was a wonderful collection of things in my mailbox:

An always interesting letter from Troy, a wonderful surprise envelope of goodies from Michelle, such a fun letter filled with goodies from Paul in Oklahoma, two great postcards from Elle, and a "correspondence kit" from another Compassion family, with a year's worth of paper and goodies to send to my kids.

I felt like a bunch of wonderful people gave me a big hug this afternoon.

Day #160

I had an interview to do this morning, so I only had time to send out one thing...

...a post card to my granddaughter.

Incoming was good.

A post card from Elle Mental, a new letter from Scotland through a Swap-Bot exchange, and two pen pal letters. Be sure to note the very neat handwriting on Troy's letter, bottom left.

Day #151

It's the Saturday outgoing mail.

My weekly letter to Amanda, 2 pen pal letters, and a request from theLetter Writers Alliance asking for a new penpal. One of the two they sent me earlier worked out great, but the other seems to have gone by the wayside. I didn't even get an answer when I sent an e-mail asking if there was a problem.

The afternoon brought one post-crossing card.

This is from 2 year old Pavlik in Belarus, who writes very well for a baby. (I suspect there was help from Mom!)

Day #150

This was the outgoing mail, both answers to pen pal letters. I just love the bottom envelope, which is made from a program for a dinner show we saw in Beijing.

Only one incoming letter today, but you don't need more than one when you have something this fun. This is from Penpalling Dad, in Colorado, who decided not to stalk me but to brazenly write to me. What a fun letter. I hope I hear from him again.
